CHE Impact Report: 2024 in review

In 2024, CHE worked with our partners to highlight emerging science, bring professionals together across disciplines, and protect scientific integrity. Here, we share some summary data about our collective work over the past year.

Webinars

We continued to host and co-host well-attended webinars. Key topics included cancer prevention, chemicals and brain development, endocrine disruptors and obesity, energy justice and climate, plastic chemicals and the international plastics treaty negotiations, and scientific integrity. We provided simultaneous interpretation in Spanish for some webinars. In addition to video recordings, a selection of webinars were posted in podcast format through our collaboration with The New School at Commonweal.

For example, Tattoo Inks, Cancer and Other Chronic Diseases: Gaps in research and regulation was produced in both English and Spanish. There were 222 live attendees including staff members from state and federal government, nonprofits, small businesses, advocacy groups, and others. As of last month, there had been over 1,300 online views of the English version of the recording and just under 300 views of the Spanish version.

In addition to the webinar, we created a Science Snippet video, published a fact sheet and a Q&A document, and featured a partner blog post providing a personal perspective on this emerging science.

"This was an outstanding webinar. A very clear and informative presentation by an exceptional speaker followed by a compelling Q&A session."

Science translation resources

In addition to this year's webinars, we produced a variety of translational materials. Webinar highlight fact sheets, Q&A documents, short Science Snippet videos, and summary blog posts offered our webinar speakers an opportunity to reach a broader audience with their analysis and key findings. We also produced and hosted blog posts providing analysis and reflection on a variety of environmental health topics.

We collaborated with partners on social media to engage with a growing audience and promote our science translation offerings. CHE is now active on seven social media platforms; our new Instagram account reached over 10,000 viewers in the last six months of the year.

Website

The CHE website continued to receive substantial traffic throughout the year. We saw an increase in unique visitors of more than 60% from 2023 to 2024.

Our small team has been hard at work updating our website. Our revamped site, which will be launched early in 2025, will include new content and search features — making the recordings of our online conversations more readily accessible to all.

Many thanks from the team

These highlights represent a sampling of this year's work; much more is moving forward behind the scenes.

We so appreciate our partners and members of the CHE community. Your feedback is always welcome; feel free to contact us at any time.

We also invite you to consider a donation — of any size — to support CHE's ongoing efforts.
